Appropriate Travel Attire

Feb 10, 2018

Traveling can be an exasperating chore these days. Long TSA lines, temperature fluctuations, and confined seats can cramp even the most distinguished gentleman’s style.

First things first, when you dress to impress, that is exactly what you do, impress.

It’s very easy to just throw on sweatpants and call it a day when traveling, however, there is something to be said about a gentleman who travels in style.

If you dress first class, then you will get first class treatment.

I’ve been traveling for years now and I can tell you one thing for sure, the guy that is dressed to impress, is going to get what he wants, and by that I mean an upgrade when flying.

Whether you’re going for an all out dressy look or for a more casually refined look, comfort is key.

Here are a few tips to make your travel effortless.

For my dressy guys:

I recommend a classic unconstructed blazer that is wrinkle resistant. Pair it with a stretch denim for a more comfortable feel, especially on longer flights. A looser fitting button up or cotton blend tee is the perfect combo.

Slip on shoes are an easy option when getting through TSA. Always wear socks when traveling, whether they are no show or regular socks, don’t wear your shoes with bare feet, it will ruin your shoes and your feet.

For my casually refined guys:

Opt for a two piece cashmere or merino wool jogger set. A fitted v-neck tee ties this look together. Your shoes should look clean and streamlined. No old sneakers.

For socks, utilizing a no show cut will be your best bet with this look and one of the best investments you can make for your feet.

The Bag:

One of the most important items when traveling, your bag, is one of the most overlooked and underutilized.

I can take one look at the bag you’re carrying and tell you exactly who you are, it makes a big statement for your image.

My favorite travel bag is the Hook and Albert weekender bag. This is THE bag!

It’s a garment bag and weekender all in one. It’s a carry on so you don’t have to worry about checking it, not to mention, this bag makes anyone look more put together.

Smells:

Nothing like a man that covers all the senses.

My two picks are Moonshine Cologne and Pipe Bomb Cologne. Moonshine has a deep woodsy smell with leather, black pepper, gin, and patchouli that lasts all day. Pipe Bomb is a simple scent that combines your scent with its three main scents of saltwater, metal, and salt, it’s absolutely intoxicating!

A little goes a long way with both of these so use sparingly.

Either one of these looks will get you to your destination more comfortably, with minimal effort and a bag worth of bravado.
